Joyce Johnson Dixon

Mrs. Alice Joyce Johnson Dixon passed away on Aug 6, 2020. She was ready to see her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Joyce loved her family and friends. They were the roots to her happiness, when you met her, you never would forgot her. She had a way to bring laughter into a conversation. She also had a deep passion for Santa’s. Her Santa collection which included over 2,000 with each Santa being a different style, profession, design and shape where she welcomed people to come view. Christmas time was one of her favorite times. Joyce also enjoyed life, meeting people and making them smile, even if it was her little wink that charmed them. No doubt, she was a joy to be around and will he missed by family and friends.

Joyce was born in Warrenton, Georgia on December 5, 1933.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Howard “Haynes” Dixon of Elberton, GA her daughter Katherine (Kathy/KD) Dixon, of Marietta, GA, daughter-in-law Pamela Margaret (Dixon) Hardwick (Ed) of Alabaster, AL, her grandchildren Christopher Warren Dixon (Crystal), Jennifer Lee Dixon, Brooke Olivia Robinson, Steven Howard Robinson, sister Barbara Kellum of Elberton, GA and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Proceeding her in death are her father Sterling Smith Johnson, mother Buehler Louise McGehee Johnson both of Thomson Georgia, her son John Howard Dixon, brothers Cliett Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Chester Johnson, Horace Johnson, Pierce Johnson, Bradshaw Johnson, sisters Celeste Buffington, and Derra Usrey.

She will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Elberton, Georgia.

The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6-8PM at Berry Funeral Home and a short graveside service will be Monday at 10:30AM with Rev. Teresa Lilja and Rev. Emily Case Whiten officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested to please make memorials in her memory to Eliam United Methodist Church, c/o: Ken Taylor 1969 Rousey Rd., Elberton, GA 30635.
