Kathryn Anna "Kay" Jones Wright

Kathryn Anna “Kay” Jones Wright, 86, of Elberton, GA passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

Kay was born in Washington, D.C. August 27, 1936, to John Paul Jones and Pauline Veal Jones. She spent many summers in Elberton as a youth with her favorite Aunt Lillian. In Washington, she attended Anacostia High School and then the University of Maryland where her love of accounting began. After working at her father’s canteen, located at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in D.C., she moved to Elberton in 1975 where she worked as office manager for several car dealerships including her uncle’s dealership, and holding the same position with Veal Motors, Ben Timmerman Motors and Cavender Automotive Sales in Commerce, GA from which she retired.

She was very creative and loved counted cross-stitching. She has many beautiful framed pieces that she has given to others and many in her home. She won several awards for her efforts.

Kay is survived by a sister, Paulette Kaplan of Fairfax, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Bill Burson of Monroe, GA; niece, Sherry Bennett of Braselton, GA; and her faithful 4 legged companion Charlie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Paul Jones and Pauline Veal Jones; a brother, Stanley Jones; son, Wayne Wright; and her grandson, Matthew Worley-Minshew.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 28 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating. There will be a short visitation following the service.
