Kenneth Leeland Shippy, 94, of 55 Terry Dee Lane, Colbert,, passed away Saturday morning, May 26, 2012, at Winterville Assisted Living. Mr. Shippy was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, August 6, 1917, to the late Joseph Franklin Shippy and Iva Evy Shippy. He was a master machinist with Pan American Airways and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in WWII. He was a member of the Pan American Rod & Gun Club, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, and an assistant scout master. Left to cherish his memories are his son, Franklin Monroe Shippy of Gatesville, Texas; daughter, Sonja Illene Peterson; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family has chosen cremation and memorial services celebrating his life will be held at Winterville Assisted Living in Winterville, Georgia Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 3:30PM with family and friends officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Miami, Florida. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.berryfh.com.
