Lola Hayes Davis, 94, of 107 Cobb Place, Royston, wife of the late Clarence C. Davis, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Davis was born in Hart County, March 3, 1918, to the late Priest Lewis and Minnie Lee Bryson Hayes. She was a homemaker and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Sara Cobb of Elberton, Bonnie Duncan of Royston, Gladys Cape of Royston, Hattie Ausburn of Greenville, SC, Vera Mayes of Canon, Betty Belcher of Spartanburg, SC, and Wanda Dove of Royston; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by children, James Davis, Clarence “Buddy” Davis, and Naomi Cawthon; siblings, Ernest Hayes, Newton Hayes, Bennie Hayes, Emma Brown, and Vera Mae Starrett. Funeral services celebrating her life were held Friday, February 22, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Randall Starrett and Johnny Stowe and Mr. Jeremy Davis officiating.
