Mr. Louis Harper Maxwell, 75, of Bowman Highway, Dewy Rose, husband of 49 years to Myrtle Jean Arndt Maxwell, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Maxwell was born in Elbert County on June 23, 1938, to the late Hoyt Chandler and Ada Lou Fleming Maxwell. He was a retired school teacher, a retired Master Sargent from the U.S. Air Force, member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church, and member of Gideons International. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Myrtle Jean Maxwell of the home; children and their spouses: Melissa and Tony Moon of Dewy Rose, Louis H. Maxwell, II of Eatonton, Michelle and Chris Clark of Dewy Rose, Mark and Natalie Maxwell of Danielsville; nine grandchildren; siblings: Hoyt Chandler Maxwell, Jr. of Dewy Rose, Winona Ginn of Bowman, Williard "Bill" Maxwell of Tucker, and Stuart Maxwell of Hull; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings: Henry Maxwell, Benjamin Maxwell, Hannah Vines, Pat Maxwell, Rachel Jones, Thomas Maxwell, and Hortense Justice. Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 25, at 11:00a.m. in the Dewy Rose Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenny Martin and Josh Massey officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Dewy Rose Baptist Church from 10:00-11:00a.m. on Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions in Mr. Maxwell's memory to Dewy Rose Baptist Church or to Gideons International.
