Marjorie Frances Davis was born February 9, 1930, in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina, and died January 4, 2022, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents Maggie Marie Wells Davis and Obe Walker Davis Sr.; brothers Obe (Dub) Walker Davis Jr., William (Bill) Paul Davis, and Jackie (Jack) Wayne Davis; sisters Vivian Rebecca (Beck/Becky) Davis Eavenson and Doris Jane Davis Farmer; and her grandparents, as well as her aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her sister Joyce Marie Davis; nephews Jerry Glenn Eavenson, Dennis Alan Eavenson, John Philip Davis, Michael Irwin Davis, Ted Walker Davis, Kethney Wells Davis; nieces Kam Renée Davis Gast, Donna Vivian Eavenson Nix, and Devon Eleanor Davis; and a number of cousins.

She was a graduate of Elberton High School/Central School and spent her entire career working for the Southern Bell/Bell South Telephone Company, where she worked in a number of different departments and held a wide range of positions within that company, including those of operator, service assistant, operator trainer, repair department associate, and business department representative. During her years as a business representative, she excelled as a sales representative and earned a number of awards for high sales volumes and was cited for her excellent service in numerous letters from company representatives.

Frances, as she was known, was a member of the Doves Creek Baptist Church in Elberton and the Elbert County Historical Society. She also was a donor to a number of charitable organizations and provided a wide variety of assistance to various groups when asked.

A noted excellent cook of traditional Southern food, Frances prepared food for a number of member events and art shows, as well as for large family gatherings, both before and after her retirement in 1987. She also cared for her pets that included dogs named LadyBird, Misha, Reggie, Silver, Fritz, Rex, Maria, and Dakota and cats named Miss Kitty and Maxine.

Graveside funeral services to celebrate Frances life will be held 2PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Elmhurst Cemetery with Rev. Douglas Huff, Mr. Tommy Fields and Rev. Herman Glaze officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Elmhurst Cemetery.
