Martha 'Lucy' Truitt Wallace

Mrs. Martha ‘Lucy’ Truitt Wallace, 90, of Highland Drive, Elberton, wife of 74 years to Eugene Harrison “Gene” Wallace, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Wallace was born in Wilkes County on February 13, 1931, daughter of the late Jabe Truitt and Ella Mae Smith Truitt. She was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer for over 50 years. She was a retired bookkeeper having worked at Liberty Granite Company and Wallace Granite Sales.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Gene, include her son, Roger and Tonia Wallace; sister, Terri Williamson; grandchildren: Mark and Leslie Wallace, Melinda and James Oglesby, Amy and Spencer Strong, and Maeson Flowers; great-grandchildren: Alex Oglesby, Mary Claire Wallace, Jordan Oglesby, Emaleigh Oglesby, Lawson Strong, and Kambrie Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughters: Chris and Stanley Rice and Elizabeth Wallace; granddaughter, Heather Nicole Purcell; and siblings: Albert Truitt, Alfred Truitt, Nancy Powell, Peggy Stewart, Jim Truitt, Morris Truitt, WF Truitt, Bobby Gene Truitt, and Mack Truitt.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, November 21, at 2 o’clock at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with James Oglesby, Jordan Oglesby, Lawson Strong, Kip Hufstetler, Jim Welch, and Jeremy Partain honored as pallbearers.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church from 1:00-1:45p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
