Mrs. Mary Ella Arnette Dingee, 94, of Athens, Georgia, wife of the late Duke Dingee passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Lonoke, Arkansas, daughter of Myrtle Hoesch. After her childhood in Lindsborg, Kansas, Mary met and married the love of her life, Duke Dingee. They were married 51 years. Together they raised four children and lived in Oklahoma City until his passing in 1992. Mary moved to Athens in 1994 to be closer to her daughters. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing bridge. Mary played in the Marathon Bridge Club of Athens for 20 years and the Learning In Retirement organization (LIR). She looked forward to nightly bridge games and singing in the Highland Hills choir. She loved the University of Oklahoma football team and spent many Saturdays either attending games or watching her Sooners on TV. She was also an avid angler and enjoyed fishing trips around the U.S. and Canada. Mary looked forward to spending time with her family and those times were her most joyous memories. Her love of laughter and sense of humor will forever be remembered. She is survived by her children, Pam Erickson (Bob) of Atlanta, Georgia, Jay Dingee (Gail) of Ft. Myers, Florida, Valerie Evans (Tom) of Elberton, Georgia, and Mark Dingee (Sharon) of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Jeff Erickson of Wichita, Kansas, Greg Erickson of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas Evans of Elberton, Georgia, Jessie Evans of Greenville, South Carolina, and Connor Dingee of Orlando, Florida; great-grandchildren, Duke Erickson and Davis Erickson, both of Wichita, Kansas; nieces Glenda Jarvis , Betty VanDerhoef, Carol Linden, Diana Nelson and numerous close friends. A memorial service will be held to remember and honor Mrs. Dingee’s life on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Highland Hills Village.
