Mrs. Mattie Lou Moon Yeargin, 93, of Washington Highway, Elberton, wife of the late Dallas Nathanial Yeargin, entered into rest on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at her residence. Mrs. Yeargin was born in Elbert County on December 4, 1921, daughter of the late George Henry Moon and Mattie Lou Yeargin Moon, and step-daughter of the late Velma Elizabeth Moore Smith Moon. She was a homemaker and seamstress having worked at Elberton Manufacturing. Mrs. Yeargin was a member of Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters: Sue Vickery, wife of Otis Wynn Vickery and Joyce Mills, wife of the late Bobby Mills, all of Elberton; daughters-in-law, Joyce Yeargin Kilgore, wife of the late Lewis Yeargin of Greenwood, SC, and Mary Thomas Yeargin Scarborough, wife of the late Dallas Yeargin of Elberton; grandchildren and their spouses, Tina and Mike Poole, Denise Vickery, Nelson and Shellie Vickery, Andy and Amy Yeargin, Bill and Kim Yeargin, Kylie Yeargin, Michael and Teresa Yeargin, and Mark and Kim Yeargin; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Ruth Raborn of Jackson, SC; brother, Walter Moon of Greenwood, SC; two step-sisters: Sallie Alexander and Louise Raborn, both of Greenwood, SC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, husband, and sons Lewis and Dallas, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Elmer, Aubry, Henry, J.E., Dorsey, Lewis and Philip Moon, Mildred Slay, Addie Stone, Mary Scarborough, and Corine Kinard. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at 2:00p.m. in Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Philip Hart and Thomas Moon, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Yeargin will lie instate for one hour prior to the service. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Monday evening. Flowers are optional and those desiring may make contributions in Mrs. Yeargin's memory to Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2353 Dr. George Ward Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
