Megan Louise Huffman, 38, of Elberton, Georgia, went to be with her Father in Heaven on November 29, 2017. Born in Boone, North Carolina, on January 10, 1979, Megan was the loving daughter of Randy Clyde Huffman and Karen Ann Ogle Huffman.

Megan graduated from Saint Mary’s Catholic High School in Sandusky, Ohio, and attended Haywood Community College. She was a nursing assistant who was loved by her patients, and she loved them as well. An avid outdoorswoman, Megan loved the mountains of North Carolina, especially Max Patch on the Appalachian Trail.

In addition to her parents, Megan is survived by a large loving family. Two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tracy and Ashby Donohue of Milford, Michigan, and Annie and Mike Vorys of Greensboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Zack and Nicole Huffman of North Wilkesboro; five nieces, Caroline Huffman, Ryan Donohue, Olivia Vorys, and Eleanor Huffman and Kaiya Chesterfield; five nephews, Griffin Donohue, Roman Huffman, Matthew Vorys, Sully Donohue and Wyatt Chesterfield, her birth father, Steven J. Buchanan, his family and her half-sister, Savannah Chesterfield of Florida, and her maternal grandparents, John and Charlotte Ogle of Wilkesboro, grandmother Edith Buchanan, many loving aunts, uncles and cousins with whom she was very close, and her faithful dog and companion, Harper Lee.

Megan was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Lydia and Clyde Huffman of North Wilkesboro, a nephew, Carpenter Vorys, and grandfather John Buchanan.

A memorial mass celebrating Megan’s life will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on CC Wright School Road in North Wilkesboro on Monday, December 4, 2017, at 11:00 am. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday from 2-4 PM at the family home, 1214 Trogdon Street in North Wilkesboro, and also at 10:30 am at the church prior to the service.
