Melether Wilder Fleming

Mrs. Margerita ‘Melether’ Wilder Fleming, 89, of Morgan Way, Colbert, wife of 62 years to the late Lt. Col. Hewell Donald Fleming, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019, at her residence.

Mrs. Fleming was born in Greenwood, SC on November 13, 1930, daughter of the late Clarence Leonard Wilder and Ruby Jane Anderson Wilder. She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and a devoted homemaker. She was dedicated to her husband and family, and always put others first. She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman.

Survivors include two daughters: Wanda Garcia of Naples, FL and Donna Blake of Colbert; siblings: Betty Looney, Virginia Richey, Madgalene Harris, Juanita Scruton, Rebecca Vickery, Julian Wilder, and David Wilder; grandchildren: Luke, Michelle, Ryan, Brittany, Annie, and Bud; great-grandchildren: Maria, Cooper, Brooklyn, Cruz, Croix, Caitlin, Kingsley, Gracie, Cambree, and John Hewell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters: Stella Wilson and Ima Jean Raines.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, December 8, at 3 o’clock at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-2:45p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
