Myra Jean Wilson Wall

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” Matthew 5:4

It is with heavy hearts and thankful spirits that we announced the death of our beloved patriarch, Edward Lamar Wall, and our beloved matriarch, Myra Jean Wilson Wall. Dad passed away at home on February 25, 2022, following several years of declining health. Mom passed away at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital on May 3, 2022, following a brief period of declining health as a result of a broken heart. Both were 78. We take comfort in knowing that they have been reunited and are at peace.

Eddie was born and raised in Bainbridge, Georgia, son of the late James Elmer Wall and Laura Cornelia Whiddon Wall. Following high school, he attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College and later transferred to the University of George where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture engineering. He retired from the Georgia Power Company as a supervisor. In his spare time, Eddie enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Myra was born in Atlanta and moved many times throughout her childhood due to her father’s career with the United States Army, including to Kentucky and Germany. She graduated high school in Central City, Kentucky and was accepted and intended to attend the University of Kentucky. However, an unplanned move to Georgia disrupted her plans, and she attended the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism. She later retired as a secretary. In her spare time, Myra enjoyed reading and sending greeting cards to her family and friends.

Eddie and Myra met during their time at the University of Georgia. Following many moves around Georgia with Eddie’s career, they settled in Thomson and were glad to call it home. They were both members of Thomson First Baptist Church and the Thomson Lions Club. Myra was a member of the Thomson Junior Women’s Club.

They were the proud parents of Charla Webb (Jimmy) of Elberton and Dustin Scott Wall of Seattle, WA; and the devoted “PawPaw” and “Grandmommie” of Madison Elizabeth Webb, Walter Grayson Webb, and Carter James Webb. Additionally, they are survived by Myra’s sister, Judy Wilson of Thomson; Eddie’s siblings: Laura McCravy (wife of the late Pete) of Lilburn, Mary Bailey (wife of the late Claud) of Tucker, and Jimmy Wall (Jeanine) of Williamson; sister-in-law, Jeffie Wall (wife of the late Rowe) of Kathleen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Neither Eddie nor Myra wished to have a formal funeral service. A Celebration of Life event will be announced in the future.

Those wishing to make a contribution in their memory may do so to Dewy Rose Baptist Church Missions, 1923 Pulliam Mill Road, Dewy Rose, GA 30634.

Curtis Funeral Home of Thomson was in charge of arrangements for Eddie and Berry Funeral Home of Elberton was in charge of arrangements for Myra. Online guestbooks may be found at www.curtisfuneralhome.com and www.berryfh.com. The family extends their sincerest appreciation to both funeral homes for the kindness, compassion, and professionalism showing during this time.
