Neal Dixon

Mr. Walter O'Neal Dixon, better know as "Neal", age 70, of Indian Hill Road, Elberton, husband of Judy Carrington Dixon, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Dixon was born in Elbert County on April 12, 1948, son of Julia Eugenia Smith Dixon and the late Henry Howard Dixon. He was the owner/operator of Dixon Trim and Upholstery Shop and a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. Neal proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era. “Gran”, as he was known to his family, was happiest when spending time at the Key Club and boating on Clarks Hill Lake, and while supporting his grandchildren in all of their endeavors, especially baseball, water activities, and judo.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Judy; daughters: Teaneal and Chan Brown of Lilburn, Renee and Kevin Hunt of Elberton, and Yvette and Greg Sanders of Elberton; mother, Julia Dixon of Elberton; grandchildren: Avery Hunt, Cade Brown, Jude Sanders, and Beckett Brown; siblings: Jimmie Bell, George and Becky Dixon, Oscar and Susie Dixon, and Cyndie Blanford; brother-in-law, Bud and Frances Carrington; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 11 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Morgan officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Greg Simmons, Jayson Chatham, Tal Swygert, Bud Carrington, Stewart York, Chandler York, Jerry Ruff, and Roy Lee Pless. The Breakfast Club and members of the Key Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family is at the residence of Kevin and Renee Hunt on Hartwell Highway and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00p.m. on Friday evening.
