Odell Haston

Mr. Odell Haston, 89, of Wilcox Heights, Elberton, husband of the late Norma Gaines Haston, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Haston was born in Edgefield, SC on November 22, 1925, to the late Bennie W. and Fara Turner Haston. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elberton where he was in the John Mashburn Sunday School Class. Odell served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a retired textile mechanic having worked at Elbert Mills and Johnson and Johnson, and a former employee of Berry Funeral Home. Mr. Haston enjoyed woodworking, camping, and spending time with his family.  Left to cherish his memories are children and their spouses, Donnie and Harriet Haston, Barry Haston, Dennis and Pat Haston, and Teresa and James Hall, all of Elberton; grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy and Paul Paramore, Christy and Josh Jones, Brittany Andrews, Kayleigh McGee, and Christopher Haston; four great-grandchildren: Carli Andrews, Grady Jones, Haley Jones, and Olivia Paramore; sister, Addie Sue Butler of Saluda, SC; sisters-in-law: Betty Haston of Saluda, SC, Betty Smith of Elberton and Wilene Tucker of Murfreesboro, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: William Thomas Haston, Myrtie Lou Leopard, and Gerald Haston.  Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, February 26, at 11:00a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Wayne Smith, Joe Watson, and Paul Paramore officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemtery.  The family is at the residence of Donnie and Harriet Haston on Bakers Ferry Road and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday evening.  Flowers are greatly appreciated and those desiring may make contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Elberton Youth Mission Fund, P.O.
