Otis Hamp Brown

Otis Hamp Brown, 78, of 2069 Stephens Road, Elberton, husband of 52 years to Hannah Mae Pless Brown, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 17, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Brown was born in Stephens County, January 1, 1935, to the late Newt and Selma Evans Brown. He attended Gaines Chapel Church and was a retired saw operator in the granite industry. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Hannah Mae Pless Brown; children, Marlow and Marilyn Brown of Elberton, Phyllis and Kevin Toney of Bowman, and Dewayne and Rita Brown of Bowman; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Woodall of Hartwell, Viola and Bill Churchill of Clayton, Bobbie and Johnny Tucker of Hartwell, Linda and Jerry Haygood of Canon, and Frances Bryant of Anderson; and brother, Paul Brown of Anderson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles, Elon, Frank, Monroe, Floyd, and J.C. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, February 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Lynn Kellum, Menford Duncan, and Lonnie McCall officiating. Interment will follow in the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery with Robbie Stephens, Dean Duncan, Terry Pless, Rodney Bryant, Scott Perry, Joe Gaines, and Brian Toney honored as pallbearers and Tim Jordan and Travis Rice as honorary pallbearers. The family is at the residence, 2069 Stephens Road, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00PM Tuesday evening.
