O.W. Davis, Jr.

O.W. "Dub" Davis, Jr., 86, of 1138 Grady Cleveland Road, Elberton, husband of Judy Hewell Davis, died Thursday morning, March 31, 2011, at the Spring Valley Healthcare Center. Mr. Davis was born in Elbert County, July 15, 1924, son of the late Obe Walker, Sr. and Maggie Marie Wells Davis. He was a member of the Doves Creek Baptist Church, retired from Ed Shive Tire, member of the Elberton Philomathea Mason Lodge #25 where he was a Shriner, and the Elberton VFW Post 5456. Surving, in addition to his wife of 33 years, are son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Linda Davis of Hartwell; daughter, Devon Davis of Elberton; four sisters, Becky Eavenson, Frances Davis, Jane Farmer, and Joyce Davis, all of Elberton; two brothers, Bill Davis of Baltimore, MD and Jack Davis of Comer, GA. Mr. Davis is preceded in death by a son, Victor Davis. Funeral services celebrating and honoring his life will be held 2PM Saturday, April 2, at the Doves Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Douglas Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at the home of Devon Davis, 127 Springdale Road, Elberton, and will receive friends from 6-8PM Friday night, at Berry Funeral Home. The family greatly appreciates all flowers, and memorials may be made in his honor to the Doves Creek Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.berryfh.com.
