Pamela Gail Walker Wilson

Pamela Gail Walker Wilson, 63, of Elberton, suddenly ascended to Heaven on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.

Pam was born on October 24, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Dawn Myers Walker Kaminksy and her father Larry Gail Walker. Pam is survived by her beloved husband Wendell Wiley Wilson; her son Luke Arles Wilson; her daughter Whitney Gail Wilson; her brother Matthew Warren Walker; and many cherished friends and family members all across the country.

She lived in several states throughout her life, but Pam settled in Georgia in 1986 and met the love of her life Wendell one year later. Their wedding took place on March 28, 1988, at Callaway Gardens as the azaleas bloomed in the springtime air.

Pam graduated from The University of Mississippi in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and taught high school English for more than three decades. She had thousands of students throughout the years and spent countless hours helping them appreciate and master the written word. Pam loved the teaching profession and dedicated her life to educating others.

Her love for writing reached far outside of the classroom. Pam proofread documents for friends and family, from graduate school papers to cover letters and beyond. She was an avid writer and loved sending cards to her loved ones, even completing birthday and Christmas cards months in advance. Whether written or verbal, she always provided words of comfort and encouragement to those around her. Her thoughtfulness, kindness, and wit live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

As a graduate of Ole Miss, Pam adored football in all forms and visited New Orleans to watch the Rebels win the Sugar Bowl in 2016. When she watched football on TV, she especially loved games that involved snow. Pam also enjoyed basketball and attending Atlanta Hawks games with her family, where she always cheered loudly and proudly.

Outside of sports, Pam had a deep love for movies and theater, especially comedies. She acted in several plays during her school days and loved any excuse to dress up, which was always reflected in her elaborate Halloween costumes.

Beyond theatricality, Pam appreciated fashion in all forms and had magnificent taste. She always joked that she was drawn to the most expensive piece of clothing in the store. Her stunning outfits perfectly matched her dazzling smile and extraordinary laugh.

A Kansas girl through and through, Pam loved sunflowers and always got joy out of seeing them during road trips with her family.

Pam was a devout Christian and followed Jesus in everything she did throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Rock Branch Baptist Church. While her loved ones miss her terribly, she now walks among angels.

A celebration of Pam’s beautiful life will be held on Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 a m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Phillips officiating. The family invites guests to wear colorful attire to honor her memory and her love of fashion. In Pam’s words to her daughter, “Only wear black if it’s your best outfit.”

Interment will follow in the Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Kevin Vaughn officiating and with Cody Moss, Al McCall, Keith Higginbotham, Heath Hover, Cole Bray, Bryson Robertson, Trent Veal, Brandon Fuqua, Seth Martin, and Taylor Smith honored as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at Berry Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29. Outside of that time, the family will be at the residence, 2856 Rock Branch Road, Elberton.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to the Pam Wilson Scholarship Fund at Pinnacle Bank.
