Patti Dean Socher

“…and more, much more…I did it, I did it my way…”

Patti Dean Socher, age 89, of Cocoa, FL, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at her daughter's home in Elberton, GA following a brief battle with cancer. Her last days were spent surrounded by the love of her family, and she died peacefully with them at her side.

Patti was born in East St. Louis, IL on March 22, 1934, daughter of the late Anderson Waddell Harrington and Mercedes Vivian Lancey, and was Catholic by faith. She relocated to Florida in 1976 where she obtained her nursing degree. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse having retired from the Cardiac Unit at John F. Kennedy Hospital. Patti was a former member and officer of the Family Motor Coach Association. She was a longtime member of the Sports Car Club of America where she enjoyed volunteering at Daytona National Speedway and Sebring International Raceway. Patti's favorite place to volunteer at the tracks was with the pit crew, and she ultimately ended up working in registration.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands: Robert John Ganninger, Sr., Cliff Hogwood, and Paul Meyer Socher; her sons: Robert John “Robbie” Ganninger, Jr., and John Andrew "Andy" Hogwood; sisters: Gloria and Mary Frances; son-in-law, James B. May; and three grandchildren.

Surviving are her children and their spouses: Christina Lynn May of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Glenna Lee Hamilton and Tim of Elberton, GA, Lester Joseph Ganninger, II and Kimberly of Overland Park, KS, and James Michael "Charlie" Hogwood and Courtney of Dahlonega, GA; siblings: Sally Norton of MO, Robert Webb of FL, and Allen Webb of FL; nine grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
