Mr. Paul Durrell Vickery, Jr., 81, of Ruckersville Road, Elberton, husband of 53 years to Christine Hutchison Vickery, finished his course in faith on Monday, June 22, 2015, at Pruitt Health at Spring Valley. Mr. Vickery was born in Elbert County on March 12, 1934, to the late Paul D., Sr. and Mamie Adams Vickery. He was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, Elberton Elks Lodge, and Jaycees. He was a Maintenance Supervisor having worked for Elbert County School System and a U.S. Army Veteran. "Papa", as he was known to his family, loved spending time with his family, aggravating his grandchildren, and camping. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Christine Hutchison Vickery of the home; children and their spouses: Greg and Jennifer Vickery and Tina and Chad Sizemore, all of Elberton; grandchildren: Ashley and Jason Nash, Justin and Hannah Brown, Sydney Vickery, Caroline Sizemore, and Braedon Sizemore; great-grandchildren: Kinley Nash and Aiden Nash; siblings: Jimmy Vickery of Dewy Rose and Patricia Thomason of Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Martha McKinney. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Jay Aiken and Tim Adams officiating. Private family interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Harold D. Purdy, Jason Nash, Justin Brown, Kevin Vickery, Ethan Shirley, Josh Simmons, William McCarley, and Nate Owens. Honorary pallbearers will include Dick Justice, Gene Reese, Ray Howell, Don Channell, Turner McGarity, Dr. Glenn Poon, and Tom Sigman.
