Mrs. Reba Thornton Nash died on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton. Mrs. Nash was born in Wilkes County, on May 19, 1914, daughter of the late James Marion and Virginia Matthews Thornton. She was retired from the Elbert County Department of Family and Children's Services, a member of the Elberton First Baptist Church and member of the Louree Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Howard Nash. She was a former member of the Pilot Club, Pink Lady at Elbert Memorial Hospital, served on the board of the Salvation Army, and also the DFACS board for many years after her retirement. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and being with her family. Prior to her death, she had been a resident at Magnolia Estates. Mrs. Nash is survived by one daughter and her husband, Jean and George Worley of Elberton; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2PM Friday, September 30, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Connie Ivester and Ken Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of George and Jean Worley at 1768 Pleasant Hill Rd., Elberton, and will receive friends from 1PM to 2PM, just prior to the service at 2PM at Berry Funeral Home. Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to First Baptist Church State Missions or the Gideons International, Elbert County Camp, P.O. Box 6211, Elberton, GA 30635.
