Regina Ann Vickery Nicholson Thomas

Mrs. Regina Ann Vickery Nicholson Thomas, 51, of Gregg Shoals Road, Elberton, wife of James Ray “Jimmy” Thomas, Jr., passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Augusta University Medical Center.

Regina was born in Elberton on September 18, 1970, daughter of James Steven Vickery and Martha Ann Crump Vickery. She was a 1988 graduate of Elbert County High School and earned an associates degree in business administration from Athens Technical College. Regina was currently employed with Athens-Clarke County as Juvenile Court Clerk, and had previously worked with Athens-Clarke County Probation Office and as Court Administrator. Prior to working with Athens-Clarke County, she worked as secretary to the president at Athens Technical College, at Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, and at Elberton Department of Labor Unemployment Office.

She never met a stranger and was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Regina enjoyed fishing and working in her flower gardens - she inherited her mother’s green thumb. Her children were her world, and she loved being “Mimi” to her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of the home and her parents of Elberton, are her children: Morgan Ann Nicholson and Justin Woodard, Savannah Gayle Newby and Matthew, Emily Grace Nicholson and Tyler Rylee, Kimberly Thomas, and Christopher Thomas, all Elberton; grandchildren: Johnathan, Kinsley, Madisyn, Isaac, Macey, and Layla; siblings: Randall Vickery of Elberton, Rex Vickery of Elberton, Rhonda Burch of Ellijay, and Steve Vickery of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home on Sunday, March 13, from 5:00-7:00p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home on Monday, March 14, at 11 o’clock with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Vans Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Matthew Newby, Justin Woodard, Tyler Rylee, Eric Vickery, Dwayne Scott, and Jeffrey Scott serving as pallbearers.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to the Regina Vickery Thomas Scholarship Fund at any Northeast Georgia Bank. A scholarship will be established with the Elbert County Recreation Department.
