Richard Lamar "Bug" Dye

Richard Lamar Dye, known as “Bug”, was born on January 19, 1967, to Frances Ann Dye Walton and the late Charles Hamm and the late Robert L. Walton in Elberton, Georgia. He gained his wings on June 27, 2020, in Elberton.

“Bug” graduated from Elbert County High School where he served in the band for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1987 to June 1991, and also served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm as a Field Medical Service Technician and as a Hospital Corpsman. As years passed, “Bug” achieved many accomplishments. He was a certified phlebotomist, nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, and a dialysis technologist. He received his certified manufacturing specialists degree from North Georgia Technical College.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Frances; sisters: Melissa and Earnest Rucker, Cassandra Walton, and Kimberly Walton; his late brother, Kessinger “Catfish” Walton and Joetta; special friends: Cynthia Young, Gloria Wilborn, and Camilla Williams; and a host nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

Graveside funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, July 2, at 1 o’clock at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Tignall.

The family is at the home, 272 Gordon Street in Elberton.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
