Rick M. Cowart, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the age of 65 and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born in Athens, GA, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Barbara Delores Lester Cowart. Rick was a resident of Oglethorpe County, Lexington, GA and a retired superintendent for the City of Athens for thirty years. He was also a faithful member of Welcome Avenue CH Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent until his failing health.

He was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, outdoorsman and he enjoyed reading. Most importantly he loved his family and Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas and Barbara Delores Lester Cowart.
Survivors include his wife, Shevonda Ann Anglin Cowart; three children: Mitchell Cowart, Lisa Cowart both of Danielsville, GA. and Sarah Kate Cowart Brown (Kole) of Lexington, GA.; three siblings: Bill Cowart (Evelyn) of Lexington, GA., Terry Cowart (Kathy) of Comer, GA., and Susan Cowart Patrick of Lexington, GA.; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Ram M. Subramanian and Emory Clinic and staff and Kindred Hospice and staff.

A memorial service for Mr. Cowart will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 7 o’clock at Welcome Avenue CH Church, 1140 Crawford-Smithonia Road, Crawford, GA., with Rev. Larry Pruett officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00p.m. until 6:45p.m. at Welcome Avenue CH Church.

The family is at their respective homes. Flowers will be accepted.
