Robert Loy Hufstetler

Mr. Robert Loy Hufstetler, 66, of Sutton Way, Elberton, husband of 48 years to Kay Saxon Hufstetler, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hufstetler was born in Elbert County on June 30, 1950, son of Ima Nell Owen Hufstetler and the late Loy Leander Hufstetler. He was a 1968 graduate of Elbert County High School and a member of Eliam United Methodist Church. Robert was a meat cutter having worked at Winn-Dixie for over twenty years and a salesman having worked at Mac Tools for three years. He served in the Georgia National Guard for six years. Prior to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1990, Robert enjoyed camping, skiing, barbecuing chicken, and playing Uno with his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kay Saxon Hufstetler of the home; son, Matt Hufstetler of Elberton; mother, Ima Nell Owen Hufstetler of Elberton; siblings and their spouses: Janel Thomas of Pomaria, SC, Sarah and Will Schuler of Blackshear, Mary Guest of Elberton, and John and Lynn Hufstetler of Elberton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, February 4, at 4 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Emily Case and Bill Lloyd officiating. Inurnment will be in Fortsonia Community Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Friday evening.

The family requests everyone attending the service to please dress casually.
