Ronald Hayes Eavenson

Mr. Ronald Hayes “Ronnie" Eavenson, age 70, of Hoke Dickerson Road, Elberton, husband of Jan King Eavenson, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side.

Ronnie was born in Elberton on March 22, 1951, son of the late Norman Hayes Eavenson and Elizabeth Cora McGee Eavenson. He was a 1969 graduate of Elbert County High School. Ronnie worked for the family logging business in his early years and then worked 19 years as mechanic with the Weyerhauser Company until its closing in 2008. He then went on to work with Georgia Pacific as a mechanic until his retirement in 2017. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and was a member of Philomathea Masonic Lodge #25.  Ronnie loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs, restoring John Deere tractors, cheering on his grandchildren at their ball games, and spending time at his shop with family and his friends. More than anything, he loved being Pop Pop to his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Jan, survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Beth Eavenson; daughter, Kelley Eavenson Coker; grandchildren: Brendon Coker, Addison Coker, and Will Eavenson; sister: Patricia and Tommy Riggins; brother: Mike and Judy Eavenson; nephew, Mark Roper; and nieces: Kimberly Riggins and Hannah Williams.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nephews, Tim Roper and Brad Eavenson.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, January 9, at 7 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Cox officiating. Interment will be in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Sunday, just prior to the service, from 5:00-6:30p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
