Rosalyn Brown

Miss Frances Rosalyn Brown, native and longtime resident of Elberton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Magnolia Estates in Elberton, where she had resided for the past twenty-five years. She was eighty-seven.

Born in Elberton, she was the daughter of the late Congressman Paul Brown and the late Frances Arnold Brown. Miss Brown was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and retired from the Elbert County School District after many years of service. Her community was very important to her. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton, Elbert County Historical Society, and volunteered at Elberton Salvation Army. Her generous donations to the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, which named the Chapel Foyer in her honor, will continue to assist Elbertonians for generations to come.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Thomas Brown, who was lost at sea in 1944 while serving his country aboard the submarine USS Scorpion in the southern pacific during WWII. Bobby Brown Park in Elbert County was named in his memory.

Surviving are several cousins, friends, and the residents and staff at Magnolia Estates.

The Graveside Service honoring the life of Miss Frances Rosalyn Brown will be held on Friday, November 11, at two o’clock in the afternoon in the family plot of Elberton’s Historic Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:30p.m. on Friday at Berry Funeral Home prior to the service.
