Rosie Moon Boswell

Mrs. Rosie Mae Moon Boswell, 76, of Elm Street, Elberton, wife of 60 years to Charles Allen Boswell, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Rosie was born in Elberton on March 4, 1943, daughter of the late Clyde Findley “Jack” Moon, Sr. and Willene Thomason Moon. She devoted her working career to food service, having worked the drive thru at the Dixie Burger for many years before working in the cafeteria at Blackwell Elementary School, retiring after 26 years of faithful service. “Nanny” loved cooking, flowers, and above all, her family. Rosie was a selfless person who was always willing to help other people, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; two children and their spouses: Tammy and Alvin Gilliard of Elberton and Jeffery and Anita Boswell of Crawford; two siblings and their spouses: Clyde and Brenda Moon and Juanita and Doug Johnson, all of Elberton; five grandchildren: Ryan and Jillian Wright, Jake Boswell, Lauren "Rosebud" Wright, Luke Boswell, and Lee Boswell; two great-grandchildren: Aspen and Avery Wright; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bobby and Betty Boswell of Franklin Springs and Peggy Cartledge of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Pauline and Joel Brown and Catherine and Alton Haynes.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, June 26, at 4 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry Schepemaker and Mr. Joe Drennan officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Ryan Wright, Jake Boswell, Luke Boswell, Lee Boswell, Joe Drennan, and Pete Haynes serving as pallbearers.

The family is at the residence on Elm Street and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 2:00-3:30p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
