Roycelynn Curtis Williams, age 68, of Jekyll Island, Georgia formerly of Athens, Georgia passed away after an extended illness Tuesday, December 29, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Roy Wilson Curtis and Hazel Dial Curtis of Athens, Georgia. She was a graduate of Athens High School and attended the University of Georgia. She was employed with the State of Georgia for a number of years in both Athens and Jekyll Island, Georgia. She was active in the community and volunteered with several organizations including the Board of Directors of the local Athens YWCA, a former President of the Pink Lady Volunteers of St. Mary’s Catholic Hospital, Athens, Georgia and was the organization’s recipient of the prestigious Angel Award. She was also a member of the local chapter of the Junior League of Athens, Georgia and was on the Board of the local Cancer Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Rebecca Curtis Davis and a granddaughter, Darrien Garland Daily. She is survived by her former husband, James David Williams of Brunswick, Georgia, three daughters, Julia Elizabeth Williams Gerrett (Edward Martin) of Brunswick, Georgia, Catherine Garland Daily Berry (Ryan) of Athens, Georgia, Mary Lynn Williams Ford (Bill) of Madison Wisconsin, two sisters, Julie Curtis Irby (Bill) of Elberton, Georgia and Ruth Ann Curtis of Columbus, Georgia, four grandchildren, Julia Caroline Hinson of Madison, Wisconsin, Hannah Christine Gerrett of Brunswick, Georgia, Gavin Scott Berry of Athens, Georgia, William Bray Ford of Madison, Wisconsin, two first cousins and a special friend, Tom Drummond of Jekyll Island, Georgia. Ms. Williams is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a large community of friends in the Jekyll Island and St. Simons Communities. Memorial Services to be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at noon in the Chapel of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Downtown Brunswick, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of the Golden Isles Chapel Fund. Courtesy obit on behalf of the family by Berry Funeral Home & Crematory.
