Ruby Pauline Davis

Mrs. Ruby Pauline Strickland Davis, 85, of Dr. George Ward Rd., Elberton wife of the late James Edward Davis, Sr. passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Davis was born February 4, 1931 in Brunswick, GA daughter of the late Harry Andrew Strickland and Mae Belle Odum Jerrod. She was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was a resident of 4 years and lovingly cared for by the staff of Nancy Hart Nursing Home.

Ruby is survived by three children, sons: Eddie “Allen” Raffield and daughter-in-law Susie Raffield of Elberton GA, James “Bubba” E. Davis Jr of Fort Pierce, FL, James “Jimmie” H. Davis of Jesup GA; her daughters Wanda R. Glover of Barnesville GA, Peggy Kirkland and Ann Knight of Jesup. Son-in-law, Robert L. French of Elberton GA, her brother, Harry A. Strickland of Capperas Cove TX, nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her late husband James Edward Davis Sr, and daughters; Joy M. French and Sherry A. Milton.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 2PM, Sunday, January 15 at Falling Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Morgan officiating. Mrs. Davis will be placed in the church to lie in state from 1-2PM just prior to the service. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Kevin Stroud, Michael Stroud, Jr., Mike Jones, Edward Milton, Joey Conales and Robert French serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Saturday night at Berry Funeral Home.
