Sfc (Ret) Jimmy Lane Booth, Sr.

SFC (Ret) Jimmy Lane “Sarge” Booth, Sr., 79, of 1969 Tanglewood Drive, Elberton, husband of 52 years to Marilyn Joy Williams Booth, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Booth was born in Cordele, Crisp County, GA, August 17, 1933, to the late Leory and Mildred Hackett Booth. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and was Baptist by faith. Sarge was reported to be one of the highest decorated men in the entire U.S. Army. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of the residence; children, Jimmy and Melissa Booth, Jr., of Elberton, Billy Booth, both of Elberton, Delaine Booth of Walhalla, SC, Tammy Booth, Debbie Segars, and Shannon Booth, all of Elberton; brothers, Billy Booth of Elberton and Johnny Booth of Leesburg, FL; sisters, Virginia Mills, Karen Tucker, and Barbara Robinson, all of Elberton; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, David Booth and Todd Booth; brother, Donald Booth; and sister, Helen Southard. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors at Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the residence, 1969 Tanglewood Drive, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
