Sallie Crosswhite Lunsford Borders Seymour

Mrs. Sallie Crosswhite Lunsford Borders Seymour, 96, of Bowman Highway NW, Dewy Rose, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at PruittHealth at Spring Valley. She was the wife for 27 years to the late Ralph Emerson Borders and for 19 years to the late John William “Billy” Seymour.

Mrs. Seymour was born in Elberton on March 2, 1925, daughter of the late Seaborn Hensley “Seab” Lunsford and Martie Frances Burden Lunsford. She was retired from Elberton Manufacturing Company and, with her husband Billy, was the operator of Seymour’s Grocery in downtown Dewy Rose for many years. Sallie was a devoted member of Stinchcomb United Methodist Church as well as a 35 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a lover of needlework having made various items and a talented seamstress who made numerous wedding dresses. Although she never had any biological children, “Aunt Sallie” was a mother figure to her nieces, nephews, and many children in the community. She enjoyed researching and writing about her family genealogy.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Lunsford, Lindsay Lunsford, Hester Lunsford, and infant Lunsford; and six sisters: Annie Ruth Holmes, Beulah Sinclair, Estelle Greenway, Dorothy Lewis, Mary White, and infant Lunsford.

Mrs. Sallie will be available for viewing from 9:00a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, until service time on Thursday, February 10.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:30p.m.-2:45p.m. on Thursday, February 10. Funeral services celebrating her life will follow at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating and the Rev. Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Stinchcomb United Methodist Church, c/o Vee McIntosh, 2091 Deep Creek Road, Dewy Rose, Georgia 30634.
