Mr. Samuel Walter “Sam” Sims, 63, of Mercer Drive, Elberton, husband of 37 years to Becky Huff Sims, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.

Sam was born in Royston on March 10, 1955, son of Lloyd and Sara Ellen Sims Cole. He was a graduate of South Cobb High School and worked as a sheet metal operator as long as his health allowed. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. Sam was a Nascar fan and avid sports fan who enjoyed UGA Sports and Atlanta Braves. He was always willing to support his daughters in any of their endeavors including coaching countless softball and soccer teams for Elbert County Little League.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of Elberton and parents of Austell are two daughters: Megan Sims of Atlanta and Heather Pyfrom and her husband Matthew of Homosassa, Florida; siblings: Aubrey and Annette Sims of Royston and Cindy and Keith Adcock of Dalls; aunts: Helen and Ira Jordan of Bowersville and Frances Dove of Stone Mountain; mother-in-law, Roosa Huff of Elberton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his aunt, Linda Holbrook of Royston.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednedsay, November 21, at 11 o’clock in Falling Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Sam will be placed in the church at 10 o’clock.

The family is at the residence on Mercer Drive and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to Elbert County Little League, PO Box 457, Elberton, GA 30635 or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
