Sandra Elizabeth Slay Bridges

Mrs. Sandra Elizabeth Slay Bridges, 78, of Calhoun Falls Highway, Elberton, wife of the late David Odell Bridges, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at her residence.

The only child of the late James Frank Slay and Janice Elizabeth Dickerson Slay, Sandra was born on August 1, 1944 in Elberton where she lived all of her life. She was a proud Elbertonian and Georgian who always cheered for the participant from Georgia in any sporting event she was watching.

Sandra enjoyed her work at Davis Floral, Ingles Floral Department, and Bilo Floral Department. She was particularly proud of the role she had in the development of the first ever floral department at the original Ingles in Elberton. Evidence of her green thumb can be found all around her home as she always had a plant near by to nurture and care for.

Survivors include her children: James David Bridges and his wife Angel of Elberton, Michael Allen Bridges and his wife Gail of Elberton, Melissa Faye Bridges Shead of Elberton and Amanda Dawn Bridges Asher of Colbert. She was the “Granny” to her seven grandchildren: David Bridges, Anna (John) Leviner, Brandi Shead, Kayla Shead, Jessica (Tyler) Harris, Nick Thornton, and Chris Thornton and “Granny Bee” to her seven great-grandchildren: Kylie, Declan, Rosalee, Miya, Brooklyn, Karson, and Grayson.

At Sandra’s request, there will be no service. She will be laid to rest privately at Forest Hills Memorial Park beside her beloved David.

If desired, contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
