Mr. Sherman Luther Lunsford, 83, of Sand Hill Road, Bowman, husband of 56 years to the late Sara ‘Bobbie’ Parham Lunsford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Lunsford was born in Hart County on January 10, 1938, son of the late George Oland Lunsford and Mabel Sanders Lunsford. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and a loom fixer having retired from Burlington Mills. Mr. Lunsford was an avid farmer and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his children: Randy and Donna Lunsford and Debbie and Danny Smith; grandchildren: Rita Dempsey, Daniel Smith, Matthew Smith, Kelly Brown, and Kyle Lunsford; great-grandchildren: Logan Dempsey, Brent Smith, Stella Lunsford, and Charlie Lunsford; brothers: Jimmy and Eunice Lunsford and Bobby and Vera Lunsford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his great-grandson, Andrew Smith; and siblings: Edgar Lunsford and Doug Lunsford.

Mr. Lunsford will lie in state at Berry Funeral Home on Monday, December 13, from 12:00-4:30p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guestbook.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, December 14, at 11 o’clock from the graveside in the Lunsford Family Cemetery, 2679 Sand Hill Road, Bowman, with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. The family is at their respective homes and will greet friends immediately following the service. Flowers will be accepted.
