Ms. Nettie Sue Rousey Stanley, 82, of Fork Creek Road, Bowman, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Stanley was born in Elberton on March 23, 1937, daughter of the late Chester Henry Rousey and Fannie Mat Rousey. She was a seamstress and textile worker, and a member of Stinchcomb United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing putt putt and collecting dolls.

Survivors include her children: Elmer Smith, Jr. of Dearing, Wanda Webb of Bowman, Mark Smith of Grovetown, Cindy Poole of Dewy Rose, and Faye Poole of Bowman; sister, Annie Shaw of Bowman; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: C.W. Rousey, Ed Rousey, and Dean Rousey.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, September 23, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Stinchcomb United Methodist Church Cemetery with Chad Smith, Jeremy Webb, Steve Shaw, David Shaw, Chris Kurtz, and Reggie Teasley honored as pallbearers. Mike Shaw and Ashley Poole will serve as an honorary pallbearers.

The family is at the residence of Cindy Poole, 595 Mewborn Road, Dewy Rose, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Sunday evening, September 22.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
