Teri Susanne Toney Covington

Teri Suzanne Toney Covington, 56 of 107 Cedar Pond Road, Hartwell,GA passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. Teri was born in Athens, GA and was the daughter of the late Grace G. Toney and Andy N. Toney. Teri was a graduate of Clarke Central High School, class of 1973. She also graduated from Athens Tech with a degree in cosmetology. Teri was one of the first hairstylists to work for Mr. Bell at Alps Barber Shop in Athens in the 70's. She eventually bought the business in the mid 80's and continued to work as a stylist, as well as owner and operate of Alps Barber and Style until she moved to Hartwell in the early 90's. Teri opened Cut, Curl & Dye in Hartwell where she worked until 3 weeks prior to her death. This past year Teri worked once a week at The Cutting Edge in Athens. Teri cut entire families, for several generations. Not only did you receive a great haircut, but good advice, a hug & a kiss. Teri was involved with the Hartwell American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors included her husband, Steve M. Covington of Hartwell, GA. Her bother, Larry Toney (Shirley), niece, Shannon Weiss and aunt, Karl Patton all of Athens, GA. The family would like to thank all of Teri's friends and people from the community for all of their support and prayers during her illness. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 27th at 4:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hartwell, GA... With Rev. Steve Ferguson officiating.
