Terry Wayne Adams

Mr. Terry Wayne Adams, 67, of Deep Creek Road, Bowman, husband of 49 years to Barbara Jean Kidd Adams, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 17, 2022, following a nine year battle with cancer.


Mr. Adams was born in Elberton on February 11, 1955, son of the late Albert H. Adams and Bobbie Sue Maxwell Adams. He worked with the Elbert County Government where he retired from the road department after 20 years of service. Terry was a member of Fork Creek Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.


An avid sports fan, Terry enjoyed pulling for the Atlanta Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Kansas City Chiefs. His favorite pastime was camping with his wife, loving companion Rocky, and his family at Bobby Brown Park where he enjoyed running jugs and fishing for catfish. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, granddaddy, and great-granddaddy. Terry was best known as “Granddaddy” to those who loved him most. He never minded helping anyone that needed help. He will be remember as a strong, hardworking, and loving man.


Survivors, in addition to his wife Barbara Jean, are his children and their spouses: Chad and Michelle Adams of Bowman, Dana and Toby Swindle of Hull, and Wendy and Zach Peacock of Bowman; sister, Susan and Bruce Webb of Bowman; grandchildren: MaKayla Swindle, Colt Swindle, Jackson Hudson, Mattison Hudson, Dakota Peacock, Kai Peacock, Jaycie Peacock, Ronald Joe Neal, Clifford Beattie, and Aletheia Wallace; great-grandchildren: Ellie Swindle, Abigail Beattie, Gabriel Beattie, Elayna Beattie, Kashae Rucker, Zyiah Wallace, and Ava Mitchell.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: James Adams and Patricia Honaker.


The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Monday, December 19, from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.


Funeral services celebrating Terry’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 20, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Tim Adams, Bill Vaughn, Al Downer, and Mr. Gary Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Fork Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
