Thomas Mccannon

Mr. Earl Thomas McCannon, 73, of Slay Road, Elberton, husband of 54 years to Judy Oakley McCannon, peacefully finished his course in faith on Monday, April 18, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Thomas was born in Oglethorpe County on June 15, 1942, to Jenelle Mattox McCannon and the late Jim Tom McCannon. He was a stone cutter having worked at Apex Granite and later retired from Quarries, Inc. He was a member of Fortsonia Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Judy, of the home; children: Gary McCannon and Tracy McCannon Johnson and her husband Tommy, all of Elberton; mother, Jenelle Mattox McCannon of Carlton; grandchildren: Clint McCannon, Kevin McCannon and his wife Carrie, Josh McCannon, Nicole Johnson, and Brian McCannon; great-grandchild, Rachel McCannon; sister, Anita Hudson and her husband Donnie of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 4 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Al Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Fortsonia Community Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening.
