Thomas Mercer

Mr. Henry Thomas Mercer, 79, of Hartwell Highway, Elberton, husband of 57 years to the late Hilda Frances Pulliam Mercer, finished his course in faith on Sunday morning, May 13, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Mercer was born in Elbert County on June 13, 1938, son of the late Henry Edwin Mercer and Ethel McCall Mercer. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, served his country in the Georgia National Guard, and was the owner/operator of AGM Granite Memorials. “Granddaddy” or “Grandpa”, as he was affectionately known to his family, enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing.

Surviving are his children and their spouses: Tim and Donna Mercer, Tracy and Kathy Mercer, Todd and Melissa Mercer, and Tiffany Mercer; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hilda; daughter, Tanya Melissa Mercer; and siblings: Faye Cunningham, Marshall Mercer, and Bobby Mercer.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, May 16, at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening.
