Mr. James Thomas “Tommy” Oglesby, 69, of Elm Street, Elberton, husband of 51 years to Jan Maxwell Oglesby, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at his residence.

Tommy was born in Elberton on March 8, 1950, son of Evelyn Bufford Oglesby and the late James Mack Oglesby, Jr. He was a 1968 graduate of Elbert County High School and furthered his education at Daytona Technical College and Athens Technical College. Tommy, along with his dad, was owner/operator of Oglesby & Son Garage for 37 years. He then went to work for the City of Elberton Water Department where he was currently employed as Lab Manager. Tommy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Tommy was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, and enjoyed bee keeping, hunting, and John Deere Tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Jan of the residence; mother, Evelyn of Elberton; children: James and Melinda Oglesby of Elberton and Christy and Robby Baldwin of Starr, SC; grandchildren: Alexandra Oglesby, Maeson Flowers, Jordan Oglesby, Tyler Baldwin, Emaleigh Oglesby, and Courtney Baldwin; great-grandchild, Kambrie Rose; sister, Vee and Brantley McIntosh of Dewy Rose; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at the residence.
