Tony David Mincey, Sr.

Mr. Tony David "Meatball" Mincey, Sr., 67, of Bowman Highway, Bowman, husband of Judy Wansley Mincey, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mincey was born in Elbert County on March 2, 1948, son of the late Horace Almond Mincey and Nadene Ray Mincey Moon, and step-son of the late Thomas Philip Moon. Known as "The Legend", he was a truck driver for 38 years, currently working for W.R. Rice Trucking, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Tony was a member of Northside Baptist Church and attended Fortsonia Baptist Church. Mr. Mincey was also a member of the Elberton VFW and the Elberton Elks Lodge, and a former member of the Elberton Moose Club. He loved riding motorcycles and dirt track racing. Left to cherish her memories are his wife, Judy Wansley Mincey of the home; son, Tony David "Pete" Mincey, Jr. and his wife Kelley of Carlton; step-daughters: Pam Shields of Arnoldsville and Tara Branyon and her husband Tim of Danielsville; sister, Eva and Bobby Maskew of Moselle, MS; grandchildren: Katelann Mincey and Samuel Mincey; step-grandchildren: Tori, Tess, Talya Branyon, and Lyrin Shields; and mother-in-law, Sarah Gaines Wansley of Elberton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Alton Mincey. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, March 20, at 2:00p.m. in the Fortsonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Fortsonia Community Cemetery with Harold Posey, Steele Mills, Allen Wilson, Randy Spears, Curtis Craft, Brandon Walters and Billy Rice serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Haley Fortson, Gene Craft, Mike Smith, Chris Brown, Ray Jones, Dean Guest, Brian Vaughn, Jimmy Hall, Vernon Norman, Mike Evans, Jimmy Barker, Paul Albertson and Buck Faust. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 5:00-9:00p.m. on Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation, P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.
