Truman Lavelle Powers

Mr. Truman LaVelle Powers, age 84, of Ruckersville Circle, Elberton, GA, husband of 20 years to Nancy Lee Nolte Powers, finished his course in faith on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Kindred Hospice IPU at Piedmont Athens Regional, in Athens, GA.

Mr. Powers was born in Waycross, GA on October 18, 1933, son of the late Dexter Preston Powers and Katherine Blanche Eunice Powers. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran having retired as a Master Sergeant. Following that, "Tru" worked as a Security Chief at various locations on Hilton Head Island, SC before retiring to Lake Russell in Elberton.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; son, Daniel Powers of Beaufort, SC; and a daughter, Sharon Jones of Rincon, GA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kate Lopez; and several siblings.

At his request, cremation has occurred and a private memorial service for the family will be held.

In lieu of flowers and food, memorials may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
