Verna Dixon Dunn, 82, of 2354 Nickville Road, Dewy Rose, wife of the late Thomas Edward Dunn, passed away Wednesday morning, June 27, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Dunn was born in Elbert County, April 26, 1930, to the late John Frank and Vonie Ophelia Rice Dixon. She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and a homemaker. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Zane Saxon of Bowman; son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Debbie Dunn of Bowman; brother, Haynes Dixon and his wife Joyce of Elberton; six grandchildren, Jill Saxon Gaddy of Elberton, Teigha Snowden of Duluth, Yvonne Billings of Bowman, Desiree Arnold of Commerce, Joy Billings of Bowman, and Kelli Grimes of Atlanta; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Marshall Dixon, Janelle Oglesby, Mary Anderson, and Lila Slay. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11AM Saturday, June 30, at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow beside her husband in the church cemetery. The family is at the residence, 2354 Nickville Road, Dewy Rose, and will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at Deep Creek Baptist Church from 10-11AM Saturday prior to the service.
