Virginia Holley Ballentine

Mrs. Virginia Sue “Ginny” Holley Ballentine, 70, of Robinwood Lane, Elberton, wife of 34 years to Richard L. Ballentine, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Ballentine was born in Bowling Green, OH on December 1, 1945, daughter of the late Jean Holley and the late Dorothy Miller Sauer. She was a retired engineer having worked for AT&T, was a member of Northside Baptist Church, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amanda P. Brown and her husband Wray of Elberton; step-father, Lester Sauer of Defiance, OH; grandchildren: Robert Eli Powell, Tabitha Elaine Chappell and her husband Greg, and Kimberly Michelle Powell; great-grandchildren: Jadyn Chappell, Marlie-Lynn Chappell, Tyler Chappell, and expected great-grandson: Liam Powell; siblings: Elizabeth Koenig, Larry Holley, and Thomas Holley; step-brothers, Sam Sauer and Tom Sauer; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, November 20, at 3 o’clock in Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. David McConnell officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Mrs. Ballentine will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.

The family is at the home of Wray and Amanda Brown, 1211 Robinwood Lane, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00p.m on Saturday evening.
