Virginia Welborn Johnson

Mrs. Edna ‘Virginia’ Welborn Johnson, 90, of Oak Street, Elberton, wife of the late Lee “Pete” Johnson, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at her residence.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Iva, SC on April 2, 1929, daughter of the late Harvey Welborn and Sue Sanders Welborn. She was a retired beautician, a member of Grace Baptist Church, and a charter member of West End Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters: Betty and Rick Timms of Elberton, Cynthia Johnson of Comer, and Tanya Moss of Elberton; sister, Patsy Higginbotham of Hoschton; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Danny Johnson; and brother, Clarence Welborn.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 2:00-2:45p.m. on Thursday, November 14. Funeral services celebrating her life will follow at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with her grandson, Mr. Adam Johnson, officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery with her grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers.
