Walter 'Norman' Grimes, Jr., 60, passed away at his home on Lexington Highway in Elberton on Monday morning, April 4, 2022. Born in Elberton on September 24, 1961, he was the only son of Walter Norman Grimes, Sr. and Joyce Alene Marion Grimes.

In addition to his parents, Norman is survived by a sister, Cathie Stowers and her husband Terry; nephew, Jake Stowers and his wife Miranda; niece, Jaime Stowers; great-niece, Ryleigh Stowers; and step-niece and nephew, Briley and Maisie Jenkins, all of Elberton. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Sam and Kathryn Walters Grimes; and his maternal grandparents: Harlan and Anna Ashcraft Marion.

Norman loved to have coffee at the old Bojangles every afternoon and talk to all of his friends, especially Sybil Ragsdale, a dear friend. He also loved to go to the Elberton Library, and listen to gospel music and watch all the old movies on television.

At the family’s request, there will be no service at this time. Memorials may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Hospital or to the Elberton Library.
