William Lee Broomfield

Mr. William Lee Broomfield, age 91, of 125 Woodlake Drive, Athens, husband of Elizabeth Collins Broomfield, died Sunday morning, August 21, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Broomfield was born in Richmond, Kentucky, December 10, 1919, son of the late William Smith and Nancy Jane Todd Broomfield. He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Army Veteran, and a retired Credit Manager with General Electric. Mr. Broomfield was a member of the Lions Club, VFW, and American Legion. A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Mr. Broomfield was a Kentucky Colonel and a Tennessee Squire. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Collins Broomfield of the home; two sons, William Collins Broomfield of Kentucky and John Marshall Broomfield of Georgia; one brother, Maurice Broomfield of Kentucky; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Odyssey Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to William and his family. The family has chosen cremation, and burial will be in Kentucky at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.berryfh.com.
