Obituary for William Lee Tindal

Mr. William Lee “Bill” Tindal, 88, of Cardinal Drive, Elberton, husband of Helen Smith Tindal, finished his course in faith on Monday, December 31, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Tindal was born in Jasper County, South Carolina on October 10, 1930, son of the late Hagood Archie “H.A.” Tindal and Pearl Freeman Tindal. Bill worked as an accountant all of his life and was instrumental in the success of Brown Transport, where he served on the Board of Directors as Secretary for many years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Elberton and taught Sunday School there. Mr. Tindal enjoyed leading a bible study at Magnolia Estates for many years. “PaPa”, as he was known to his family, was an avid golfer, enjoyed jogging, and was happiest when laughing and cutting up with his family. Mr. Bill will be remembered as a fair and honest businessman who always had a warm smile and handshake.

In addition to his beloved Helen, his wife of 64 years, he leaves behind his daughter, Telene “Bunny” Heiple and her husband Jerry of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee; two granddaughters: Emily and Derek Brand of Dallas, Georgia and Kelsey Heiple of Thompson’s Station and fiancé Branden Colton; two great-grandchildren: Bailey Brand and Avery Brand; sisters: Grace Matheny of Elgin, South Carolina and Amelia Ann Byrd of West Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ritter Tindal.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, January 4, at 11 o’clock in First Baptist Church of Elberton with the Revs. Raymond Scott and Gary Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Thursday evening.

Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Elberton or the church’s Ramp Ministry, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, Georgia 30635.

Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.berryfh.com.
