Mrs. Wilma Ellen Pool Williams, 93, of Lake Forest Drive, Elberton, wife of the late Henry Martin Williams, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at her residence. She was born on December 16, 1920, in Dacula, Georgia; the youngest of three daughters of James Caleb Pool and Leila Hutchins Pool. Wilma grew up in Winder and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She married Henry Martin "HM" Williams, Jr. of Eastanollee in 1950 and moved to Elberton. They were owners of JC Pool Ladies Store in Elberton and later JC Pool Department Store in Hartwell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elberton, the Virginia Atnip Women's Missionary Union, Elberton Civic League, Elberton Garden Club, and The Good Neighbors Club. She was a Cub Scout Den mother, Girls Scout leader, and leader in the Girls Auxiliary (GAs) at First Baptist Church. Wilma was a former Board Member of the Salvation Army in Elberton. Survivors include her three children: Susie Bid Brown and Richard of Columbia, South Carolina, Henriellen Quail of Columbia, Maryland, and Martin Pool Williams and Rita of Elberton; and six grandchildren: Ellen Brown Chiles, Margaret Brown Self, Andrew Caleb Williams, Marti Williams Wiles, Katherine Quail Fenstemaker, and Alexander Williams Quail. She is also survived by three great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, June 2, at 11:00a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elberton with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. A private family graveside will be held in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family is at the residence and will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church from 10:00-10:45a.m. on Monday morning.
