Mrs. Winnie Mae Smith Fox, 94, of Washington Highway, Elberton, wife of the late Robert H. Fox, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fox was born in Elbert County on September 9, 1919, to the late Christopher Thomas Smith and Winnie Davis Smith. She was a retired proofreader for Curtis Printing Company and a member of Eliam United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Barbara Joyce Stegall of Barnesville, Dorothy Oney of Jonesboro, Harry Thomas Fox of Griffin, and Robert Alan Fox of Madison, AL; sister, Irene Butler of Elberton; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by daughter, Patricia Lee Danehower, siblings, Kathleen Trippe, George Thomas Smith, Julius Smith, Julia Maples, and Eleanor Wilson. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 27, at 3:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Wesley Privett officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family is at the residence of Irene Butler, Hudson Road, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 2:00-3:00p.m. on Monday.
